Our Heritage | Certified Natural Skincare for over 30 Years
At Living Nature, we are proud of our heritage as New Zealand’s original certified natural skincare company. Since our inception, we have remained true to our vision of creating authentic, natural, safe and effective skincare and cosmetics. For every product we create, countless hours of care and thought are dedicated to producing a product of the highest quality possible. This includes identifying sustainably sourced natural ingredients, sourcing COSMOS compliant packaging and testing out the product (our wonderful Living Nature staff are willing volunteers). The result? Products we can proudly stand behind as powerful, natural, and sustainable.
Many of our original products are still among our bestsellers today, over 30 years on. One of our most iconic products is our certified natural Manuka Honey Gel, a gentle soothing gel perfect for skin irritations such as spots, scratches, insect bites, cold sores, eczema, rosacea and psoriasis. Originally named ‘Rescue Gel’ or ‘Manuka Oil and Honey Antiseptic Gel’, this product has stood the test of time. It’s formulated with Active Manuka Honey, a potent ingredient known for its hydrating, moisturising, and nourishing benefits. We source our Manuka Honey from beekeepers in our local Far North region of New Zealand. It is 'wild crafted' and harvested using industry best-practice methods which are strictly animal cruelty-free.
Another key ingredient is Manuka Oil, a potent oil which we have been using in our award winning formulations since our inception in 1987. Praised for its strong anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, Manuka Oil is sourced from the Manuka plant, a native New Zealand shrub. Our Manuka Oil is sustainably sourced using only the leaves, flowers and branches, without any destruction to the mother plant.
Manuka Honey Gel is now distributed globally, along with our full certified natural and organic range. Other original Living Nature products include our award winning Firming Flax Serum and Vitalising Cleanser, our unique hydrating Toning Gels and our nature inspired Lipstick range. While their names and packaging have changed over the years, they still hold the same powerful properties, and their enduring popularity is evidence of their effectiveness.
Today, we distribute to over 15 international markets, all from the small town of Kerikeri, where our original GMP certified factory and flagship store are located. We are proud that our iconic products are still produced in the same factory, which has been part of the local community for over 30 years. This base allows us to control every step of the process from product development and formulation to testing, filling and distribution.
Inspired by the tranquillity of New Zealand’s magnificent forests, oceans and waterfalls, we continue to innovate and produce powerful new formulations to complement the range. In 2019, both Living Nature classics and new products received 20 international awards collectively. We are honoured to have received such support as we continue to celebrate our heritage and lead the way in certified natural skincare and cosmetics.
