Living Nature’s certified natural Charcoal Clay Mask is formulated with natural anti-pollutant, skin detoxifying ingredients to restore skin balance and leave you with a healthy, refreshed, glowing complexion.

Air pollution is one of the main contributing environmental pollution risks to our health and especially our skin. Present in both cities and rural areas, pollutants suffocate your skin by accumulating on the surface; harmful chemicals and toxins can attach themselves to these particulates and penetrate pores. These harmful substances can diffuse into deeper layers and induce skin irritations, skin sensitivity and premature ageing, as well as a dull, dry complexion.

Daily exposure to airborne pollutants, combined with waterborne pollutants and your skins inability to effectively neutralise these toxicants, requires the aid of natural skincare products which work in harmony with your skin. The skin is your body’s largest organ and protective barrier; you need to provide it with the right defences and nourishment to ensure you and your skin stay healthy.

To combat skin pollution, Charcoal Clay Mask has been formulated to detox, purify and strengthen your skin’s protective layer with active Bincho Tan Charcoal and ‘super berry’ Schisandra Chinensis. Halloysite Clay absorbs excess oils and aids in drawing out impurities, and skin superfoods Avocado Oil and Coconut Oil work to feed, nourish and soften skin. Organic Mānuka Honey and Shea Butter add moisture while reducing inflammation and anti-oxidant rich Vitamin E helps to fight free radical damage.

Where is Bincho Tan Charcoal in your Charcoal Clay Mask sourced from?
Charcoal powder is an ancient natural ingredient which has been used for centuries in Japan due to its purifying properties. It is sustainably sourced and derived from the Ubame Oak Tree which is a hard wood grown in the southern Kishu area of Japan. It is a fine, high quality and porous ingredient which absorbs toxicants, oils, bacteria and impurities from the skin.

Selective partial cutting of the vigorously growing mature trees are made to expose the trees to more light and promotes the development of the remaining trees. Only the upper part of the trees is used. The forestry is regulated by the government to ensure sustainable production.

Do I still need to patch test before using the Charcoal Clay Mask?
As is normal for all Living Nature products, it is always advised to patch test the products prior to use for the first time. Over 70% of the population is allergic to something, and therefore advisable to carry out patch testing at least 24 hours prior to use. Place a little on the inner arm area and cover it with a plaster (to avoid rubbing it off), or place a little behind the ear. Leave this on until your next shower or bath. If there is any redness or irritation, then avoid using the product on your face.

What products do I use before and after the Charcoal Clay Mask for best results?
1. As with any mask, it is important to start with a clean skin, using either the Living Nature Purifying or Vitalising Cleanser, depending upon your skin type.
2. It is recommended to exfoliate the skin with Living Nature’s Skin Revive Exfoliant prior to use, this will remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, allowing the mask to work deeply into the epidermis.
3. Apply the Charcoal Clay Mask in a fairly thick layer, avoiding the eyes and lips. Wait 20 minutes and rinse off with tepid water.
4. Apply either the Living Nature Hydrating or Extra Hydrating Toning Gel, again, depending on your skin type. Wait 30 seconds for this to absorb into the skin.
5. To finalise your treatment, apply your skin appropriate Living Nature Day Cream or Night Cream (depending on time of day).
6. It is recommended to use the mask 1 – 2 times per week.

How often can I use the Charcoal Clay Mask and can I over-use it?
We recommend once or twice weekly use, preferably after exfoliation for optimum results. If you have a very oily skin or work in a particularly polluted environment where your skin may be exposed to dirt and debris or oil fumes (i.e. a chef) on a daily basis, treatment 3 – 4 times per week may be more beneficial to keep the skin free of environmental toxins, and stay clean and healthy. If the skin shows any signs of sensitivity, then reduce back to once or twice a week.

If I leave the Charcoal Clay Mask on longer than 20 minutes – will I have a better result?
Testing has found that optimum results are achieved leaving the mask on the skin for 20 minutes. Leaving the mask on for longer will not result in any additional skin benefits.

Can your Charcoal Clay Mask be used by both women & men?
Yes, Living Nature’s Charcoal Clay Mask is unisex and can be used by everyone. It is un-fragranced making it especially appealing to everyone who is striving to achieve a clear, healthy and bright skin.

Will your Charcoal Clay Mask stain my skin or clothing black?
Regarding your skin - not at all. Once you have rinsed it off your skin, your skin will remain its natural colour, although it may appear brighter and healthier.

Fabrics & towels we have tested do not stain or hold onto the black colour, however, it is recommended to rinse the affected fabric as soon as possible after contamination. We do recommend the use of a dark face cloth to remove the mask. As there is a vast array of fabrics and towelling on the market, it was not possible for us to test all of them and stain removal cannot be guaranteed.

What is the difference between Living Nature’s new Charcoal Clay Mask and the Deep Cleansing Mask?
