Celebrating our Birthday: 36 Years of Natural Skincare and Cosmetics
This April, we celebrate our 36th birthday, a significant milestone for Living Nature. Since our early days, we have pioneered natural skincare and cosmetics. This is something we don’t take lightly; we pride ourselves on producing powerful, effective formulations. For every new product launched, we are dedicated to perfecting these formulations and sourcing the highest quality natural ingredients. The results speak for themselves; our products have stood the test of time as New Zealand’s original certified natural skincare products.
One of the key drivers of our product's efficacy is the native New Zealand ingredients we choose to use. New Zealand has an abundance of unique ingredients which nurture, restore and protect. In fact, over 80% of New Zealand's plants are found nowhere else in the world.
What makes these plants even more unique? With the depletion of the ozone layer, these plants have had to adapt to significantly higher UVB exposure. As a result, they produce higher levels of protective antioxidants, which lend their powers to our natural skincare formulations.
Here's an overview of our hero ingredients, which we have used for decades to produce the natural skincare you know and love.
Mānuka Oil
For centuries, this oil has been used traditionally to aid in treating skin disorders, burns and fevers. It has powerful antimicrobial properties, and studies show it can be up to 33 times stronger than Tea Tree Oil against some bacteria.
Active Mānuka Honey
Living Nature's Certified Natural Mānuka Honey is one of nature's sweetest and strongest gifts. From the nectar of native New Zealand Mānuka flowers, active Mānuka Honey is a miracle beauty and skincare ingredient. Wild harvested from beekeepers in our local Far North region of New Zealand, this honey provides hydrating, moisturising and nourishing benefits.
Harakeke
The gel from New Zealand flax, Harakeke Gel is hydrating, moisturising and healing, which is why we use it extensively in our range. It is the perfect natural alternative to petrochemically derived synthetic gels to soothe, hydrate and cool, reducing puffiness and redness in the skin.
Halloysite Clay
Renowned as one of the world’s finest and purest clays, Halloysite Clay has a remarkable ability to absorb toxins and impurities from the skin. It also helps to exfoliate, drawing dead cells away from the surface to leave the skin fresh and accessible to nutrients. Our Halloysite Clay is sourced from New Zealand's pristine Matauri Bay, this unique Halloysite Clay was formed through subtropical weathering of ancient volcanic domes produced some two to nine million years ago.
Kūmarahou
The worlds most natural soap, Kūmarahou has antimicrobial properties, soothes skin, and locks in moisture. We use Kūmarahou throughout the Living Nature range as an alternative to harsh surfactants such as SLS that strip the skin of its protective oils.
Totarol
Nature’s super antioxidant, Totarol is 7 times stronger than Vitamin E! This makes it a powerful force against skin ageing free radicals. Totarol is sustainably extracted from the heartwood of the Tōtara tree, a giant of the New Zealand forest. In addition to its antioxidant power, it has powerful antimicrobial properties making beneficial for acne prone skin.
Alongside these powerful ingredients, we use botanical superheroes including Avocado Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, plant derived Squalane and Rosehip Oil. The result? Powerful, clean skincare and cosmetic formulations your skin will love.
